Anyone hear any more about the Metro North?

There was talk initially that it would be done and running by 2010, but since the passing of the Celtic Tiger they seem to have gone very quiet about it.

I'd love to hear of any news at all as I was looking forward to seeing it pass through the area in which I live.

Thats great. There was supposed to be a discussion about whether it should run over or underground locally. I'd be interested in their latest proposals.

A controversial new underground rail system for Dublin. There's a lot of discussion about how Stephen's Green near the top of Grafton Street will have to be excavated for one of the stations.

          There's more info HERE.

There's also discussion as well as projected plans and pictures on Archiseek.

              dublin metro

Not in our lifetime now, we are borrowing millions every week (they keep changing the figures on a regular basis ) that has to be paid back. Then there's ' NAMA. ' 57 Billion of your hard earned cash down the swannie to keep the Fianna Fail banker friends your great grandkids will still be paying off this dept thanks to this muppet Government.
The only metro we will see is a blueprint of it.

If it will ease road traffic congestion and make it easier for commuters to get from point A to point B, while not having a major environmental impact on our city... it will be very welcome.
