Wouldnt say their members are getting an unfair advantage exactly but the Union leaders need to grow up and look at the situation around them and move into the real world. But I dont expect they will. Sometimes I wonder if Jack O'Connor is extracting the Urine or if he is for real.

I don't know about this situation, so I'll keep looking in to find out. It does seem strange that they would have so much power with high unemployment.
today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

yes it would.....if the private sector shrinks....there is a reason for unemployment, and prices should drop accordingly..............as their income shrinks............

the public sector income also shrinks.....is there the same knock on affect....or are the unions too strong ?......

I dont know if I would say that exactly. I mean the minimum wage is a bit silly cos yer better off on the dole than working but some of the expectations of Unions is plain stupid given the situation we are in. And possibly we are in this situation partly because of concessions to the Unions under Bertie Ahern.

so, some of the present hardships could be caused by the unions......

Definetly. And expectations of workers are unrealistic as a result of Union posturing.
A contradiction in terms but there is too much socialism in trade unions for my liking.
You can defend the working class in a realistic fashion. In my dealings with the UNion they want more more more even when more is unjustified.

Cos everyone wants more. You WILL hear grumblings on the ground but only grumblings. I rarely hear people with the same view as me. Maybe Im the only one??
At the minute they are all negotiating redundancies so we dont hear much from them. Although Eddie Stobart is going on strike shortly.
