    I'd guess this photo is from the 1950s. The street is still very narrow and the south side of the street hasn't been demolished yet.

        The other end of the street, towards Christchurch, a few years later. The street still narrow. My grandfather lived at no. 4 after he got married.

              I'm not surprised - the original streetscape has been ripped apart!

              The second and third photos above (from the 50s) are marked red here, the fourth and fifth photos (from the 60s, I guess) are marked blue.

                      Where I put a deposit on a pram when I was 6 months pregnant on my first child who was born in 1971. I would go over every couple of weeks and leave another £1 or so off it...think it cost £39.15sh.

                          the name rings a bell.....but i can't place them......

                          did they live on the bridge street side.........on the right as you went up the stairs......
