  • constant moaning....

some parents in the uk are moaning about the private education system being better than the public system...and they expect the state to pay to bring the public system up to the private standard.......

should they, if they are fit enough...get off their backsides, go and get a job and pay for it themselves....??????

I don't really get you, are you suggesting people whose children go to state
      schools don't have a job?

Maybe quinner's suggesting the lazy barstewards go out and get a second job... for the sake of the children.
        Everything is self-evident.

Or they could send the kids up the chimney after school.
Seriously, though, state schools are paid for through taxation - so parents
do pay for them indirectly. (Religious schools are "voluntary aided" which means the diocese/parents make a contribution.) I don't know what it's like
in Ireland, but over here state schools vary immensely in their standards.
I was lucky, in that my kids all went to very good schools - but some people
aren't, so if they're asking for standards to be raised, good luck to them.

Is that a copy and paste job, or do you have to type that out every time
you use it? Do you have to turn every thread, even your own, into a
slanging match? Can you not, for once, engage in proper debate?

I'm not going to get into a row with you again, Joe. That sort of thing makes
.net look like a petty and childish chat room, instead of a proper discussion forum.
                  Enough is enough.

I think a good state education across the board is a must........there would
then be no need for private education, or for people who don't have access
to good state schools to feel they have to go down the private route just
because their local state school isn't up to scratch. That way, every child
has the opportunity to fulfill his or her potential.

the socialists want everybody to be treated equal.....which prevents that....

hence the high percentage of dropouts........

I think treating everyone as equal, where education is concerned, is a positive
thing. There will always be dropouts, at every level of society. That has more to do with the individual than being treated fairly. Is it fair for a child
to miss out on a good standard of education simply because its parents don't
live in a good catchment area? I don't think so.

too much resources are wasted......which means, not enough left for what is needed, and where it is needed....

nobody can afford up to 45% percent dropouts....

especially when it is borrowed money......
