  • Are the Better Off poorer today?

From what I've been listening to on the radio the middle classes (and in fact anyone earning more than about 30,000 a year) are being squeezed from all directions, with increased taxes on everything they need: house, car(s), food, wine, etc. Their businesses are threatened, their houses are in negative equity and their savings are diminishing. Yet what would we do without them?

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world" (Yeats)

you see the word 'class' when used with regard to humans annoys me. Who decreed class? Because you earn a certain wage or live in a certain area does not put you into a nice little box to tick.

Cowan, Bertie, Haughy, Dev, Kenny, O'Reilly etc etc - are they better than me - NO

So drop the 'class' bit and concentrate on earnings

Those doing a job deserving of a good wage - good but I do not include everyone covered by the Agreement made in Crocher nor ministers who under perform, nor the doctor who could not be bothered to attend a patient in need as being a better class than me

    I hate the word class!
