  • Looking to find an address in harolds cross.

Does anyone know of an address called " tranquilla terrace" in harolds cross.
I have found tranquilla lodge in rathmines and the park beside it is called tranquilla park.
The census of 1911 shows a tranquilla terrace, which was off charlotte street, but that has disappeared from what I can gather.
I have found a record of a christening in a parish church as listed below.

    Name AUGUSTINE JAMES GALLAGHER
Date of Birth 25 July 1900
Address 1 TRANQUILLA TERRACE HAROLDS CROSS
    Father THOMAS GALLAGHER
    Mother MARY BONHAM
    Further details in the record
    Sponsor 1 AUGUSTINE BONHAM
    Sponsor 2 ANNIE BONHAM
    Priest J SCANLAN CC

I have tried all the usual maps etc with no luck,
    Can anyone help please.

Think it's safe to assume that your Tranquilla Tcr (and there was one there) was one of many small rows of workers houses built by the Artisan Dwellings Company for local mill workers....apparently most of these little terraces were built around the 1850's and were later incorporated as part of Harold's Cross Road. As with the case of the similar Abbercorn Terace which became 297 HX Road. It's a bit of a needle in a haystack job, but hope it helps.
            We'll sail be the tide....aarghhhh !!

Thanks for your efforts guys, but like you say maybe its been replaced or renamed.
The last mention I can find of it is 1924, when an Albert Jackson of 1 tranquilla terrace, harolds cross, booked the buriel plot for my granddad in glasnevin cemetery, at their Parnell st office.
My granddad, Det. Arthur Nolan was murdered in Pearse st police station, and his brief biography is in this link.
