safe mode

anyone know ,or come across this problem maybe you might know a solution.My desktop will only work when i put it into safe mode ,in normal mode this message keep coming up when i start up .error pingu 3266 .everything looks normal but e/mail wont open and most programmes wont work ,yet in safe mode everything works ok ,except printer .is this a virus or a fault with computer

its a problem with a backup...do you have an external drive plugged in you have a back up on??? cos the error message means the drive has a problem?
