Fare thee well sweet Anna Liffey, I can no longer stay
& watch the new glass cages, that spring up along the quay
My mind's too full of memories, too old to hear new chimes
I'm part of what was Dublin in the rare ould times
Buildings like the Civic Offices on Wood Quay are a crime against the people of Dublin. If I were to apply for planning permission for a dormer window it would be turned down as being discordant, unsightly and not in keeping with the surroundings yet the same planning department allowed that monstrosity beside an 11th Century archictectural masterpiece. How they got away with it is a disgrace. Someone should have been put behind bars for that.

I do not have any great hope for the future of buildings, out planners have allowed apartments to be built that are fire hazards, and we have houses cracking at the seams from pyrite, very ugly buildings at the cost of losing some very beautiful buildings
I am not a lover of glass and steel or concrete bunkers
