The day after Mother's Day!
Whatever our mothers ( capital 'M' ), in the forum received in the way of attention, flowers, chocolates, meals, 'phone calls, cards, etc., it wasn't, and never could be, enough.
Mothers are a very special breed of person who should be loved and cared for every day of their lives, (just as they spend 168 hours a week caring for, tending to, worrying about and loving their children).
Let us not forget those Mothers for whom Mother's Day may be painful for any number of reasons. A child lost early in life, an estrangement from a son or daughter for whatever reason.
What is it that makes a woman sacrifice everything from creature comforts to her health for others? The answer is, simply, Love.
I have not the words to pay homage to such wonderful people as you Mothers out there. So I have chosen the writings of others to say what I feel should be said to you special, lovely people.
What Is A Mother?
A mother is someone to shelter and guide us,
To love us, whatever we do,
With a warm understanding and infinite patience
And wonderful gentleness, too.
How often a mother means swift reassurance
In soothing our small, childish fears,
How tenderly mothers watch over their children
And treasure them all through the years!
The heart of a mother is full of forgiveness
For any mistake, big or small,
And generous always in helping her family,
Whose needs she has placed above all.
A mother can utter a word of compassion
And make all our cares fall away,
She can brighten a home with the sound of her laughter
And make life delightful and gay.
A mother possesses incredible wisdom
And wonderful insight and skill -
In each human heart is that one special corner
Which only a mother can fill!
