  • The Stardust -- 30 years on.

    While most of our minds are turned to love and romance this St Valentine's Day, please let us remember the 48 young people who were also in a romantic mind as they set out with light hearts to dance the night away.

    But their youthful happiness turned to nightmare.

    We remembered them this time last year, but as some will remember that memorial was tainted by a conspiracy theorist.... so this new post is more appropriate than a rehash of the old one for that one reason.

    Please read the names and reflect on the young lives that were lost... and their families and friends... and perhaps say a little prayer for lost lives and families that have not yet healed.

    and not forgeting the 215 injured...

    Of the victim list above I knew two of the young people. I think many of us will have known some too.

    Christy Moore wrote a song about the fire. The full lyrics of the song are banned here in Ireland as libellous because the words;

    "In a matter of seconds confusion did reign.
    The room was in darkness, fire exits were chained.

    "Hundreds of children are injured and maimed,
    and all just because the fire exits were chained."

    The words were held in court to be libellous to the Butterly family and to the government.

    We on this forum do not engage in such censorship.
