I've spent more time watching CNN news than working. I used to live in Japan & grew up in Southern California.....I hate the quakes. If strong enough, probably the only thing in my life that's made my knees knock because they are creepy.
I see from the videos that this was a long, rolling style quake measured 8.9 on the scale.
I have an e-mail out to my ex neighbor in Hayama-machi just south of Tokyo, but it's in the middle of the night, and I have the impression the power is still on that far south. I hope before I leave work he e-mails.
