  • General Election 2024 November 29th

Should be formally announced this coming Friday. A short campaign, do judging by doorbell footage plenty of TDs like Michael Healy Rae have had an early start.

So any predictions? Who do you think will get elected in your constituency?

    Probably Trump
I live in a West brit constituency so we normally get 2 Gaelers, I FF & a PBP.

I am in a new constituency this election. The Fingal 5 seat now split into two 3 seaters, Fingal West and Fingal East with both in the East of the old constituency if that makes sense. I predict FG West will return 1 SF, 1 LB, 1 FF. North of Swords was always more FF and Labour leaning. Fingal East contains FG heartland of Malahide so my prediction is
Fingal East 1 FF, 1 LB and 1 FG.

I think this was a wise move from Ms Keegan. She would have burned through a lot of goodwill for her campaign.

Do you think Louise O Reilly is a shoo in for SF ?

At the moment she should get in, she doesn't have major competition, has a high profile and if the Greens do get a kicking she will most likely be the only candidate from the North part of the constituency with a chance. You might not like her party or politics but if she lives local people will throw her a 3, 4 or 5.

I'm in Dublin Central , plenty to choose from.....I can see Mary Lou and Pascal Donohoe retaining their seats.....and the other two going to the wire between ...Gary Gannon . Neasa Hourigan / Marie Sherlock and that pox Clare Daly who has recently mooched her way in.....

How have Gannon and Hourigan performed as TDs for the constituency ?

The good news is the short campaign prevents Daly from jumping on every local campaign and grievance like she usually does.

As far as I can see neither did anything, I gave Gannon my first preference last election, just fed up with the usual suspects decided to give him a chance. First year in office he had the lowest Dail attendance in the country even though he lives within walking distance of government buildings , had the gall to claim travel expenses and was made pay it back , I ran him from the garden last week

Just looked at the candidates for Kildare North was a 4 seater will be a 5 seater Im hearing people say we need change 100 years of FF/FG but to be honest very poor selection here to make that change.

Good example here Napper of my distrust .... an Independent who you hope would show some form of decency , remember the Minister [ can't recall her name ] she had her driver take the long way to the Dail so she could claim expenses .

Looking at a headline this morning , FF/FG will offer up to 30percent towards the cost of a second hand house , am I wrong/ right in thinking that one house buyer not eligible for the help to buy scheme could be outbid by another buyer who could apply for the help..Higher house prices = higher LPT

We are in a mess and no mistake. I am giving a vote to the Social Dems I have to think about others, but under no circumstances would I vote Sinn Fein

Why should Independents be more decent? We have had numerous Independents elected over the years and they still had some of the highest expense claims. Some formed parties and groups so they can claim more expenses.

We are in a mess on health care, environment, housing and food inflation but I look around and see the same in most other countries.
