That's the gate and that's where they beat up that guy all those years ago.

Must be all of 50 years ago.I was thinking about The Rink and I'm sure they

had proper dancing there after they stopped using it as a skating rink.Maybe

somebody remembers if that happened or is it just my imagination or time ?

i have ran in and out of that bricked up door.....we thought it was haunted....

i don't know about the people that moved from there, and the other house that was to the left....but i remember it was as if they just ran away....there was furniture and clothes left in there.....

next door was razed to the first floor, and became our camp....we climbed up there halfway down the lane on the left..

Do'nt know if these fit into the 'then and now category' you intended, but here goes.

                Charlemont Mall as it was.

Charlemont Mall as it is to-day.

I think Pegasus will agree that the streets were bedecked with flags and bunting to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Catholic Emancipation.

I always think these blends of old and new tell a story about the fleeting nature of our existence. Some day we'll be on an old photos thread on some future version of the forum.
