        There's a certain poignancy to some of these photos. For example, the Hayes family, three boys and two girls, Protestants, were devastated by TB. Only one survived, May, who went on to marry and moved to Stillorgan.

            In the centre Molly Hickey, behind her her mother Bridget, née Byrne, on left her father Thomas Hickey, from 51 Lower Clanbrassil St. In front is Maura Mogerley (nicknamed Golly Mog). around 1924. Sorry about the condition, will try to re-scan.

              I always loved the verse of 'He was a quare one' that goes;
              If you go to Clanbrassil Street'
              that's if you go at all.
              If you go to Clanbrassil Street
              say your prayers at the Wailing Wall.

                  The wailing wall indeed, and the place of my birth.....no time for Coombe comforts....nine days before Christmas a baby boy was born above Rubinstein's in Little Jerusalem.

                      They also had a shop in Whitefriar Street at the side of the church.

                        108 Lower Clanbrassil Street

                        Hi Newbie here, came across this forum when researching my great grandfathers pub Coyles, 108 Lower Clanbrassil Street (subsequently Larkins - I was delighted to see photos of Larkins in this thread!)
                        My great grandfather, Francis Coyle, owned Coyles from 1919 to 1924.
                        Prior to becoming Coyles, the pub was known as Lawless's.

                        I would love to find a photo of 108 with the name Coyle over the door (long shot I know!) can anyone recommend any photo archives I should look at?

                        Thanks in advance, Lon

                          Hi Lon and welcome aboard - have you had a search up here ?

                          The original thread has been split due to its size. Super sized threads can cause database issues. 10,000 posts is the practical limit for a thread so we have split off and closed the original thread at that point. Please continue posting your photographs and comments on this thread. The original thread will remain viewable
                          Everything is self-evident.

                              They would have known my Grandparents John and Julia Ferris and 9 kids at No 82...then later I was born in that tenement, when my parents took two rooms in the building, because my mother felt at home in the street where she grew up.... It was a great street right nuff.

                                The corner was named after this man Francis Leonard who was succeeded by Mr Keogh as in the last post.
