Default Computers and related.

Joe O'Toole inspired the starting of this thread.
His first questions are,

"'played with the levels a bit ' and what does = ps= mean"

In this case playing with the levels means experimenting with light, shadow, saturation, colour etc in a graphic (photo)

There are many programs available to do this kind of experimenting... which leads me to the 'ps' in Joes post. It stands for Photoshop, a great graphics program.

I have an excellent program that I use from time to time. It's called Black Magic. If you have old black&white photos and want to colour them it's really good.

Morning James,
At my computer course on Wednesday in the adult learning Centre i will ask the Tutor to explain and show me in detail your first two lessons on the forum. This course consists of both Computer / Camera ( digital ) and over the 12 week course i am hoping to learn something of both.
These courses are free and my group are mainly in the ages of 50 years and up and are a mix of both men and women.
When we have a cuppa and a chat we all seem to be from a generation of people who have worked all our lives and only had a primary education and are been left way behind by modern standards because of our lack of proper schooling over the years.
I have a pair of hands i can work mentality is no good anymore, and when i see a repeat of young people not getting a proper education and working at menial jobs that are not going to sustain them to pay their way through life and are going to be left behind, just like me and my friends on this course .
The focus should really be on free classes for the younger generation to insure that everybody gets a chanch in this modern life. IE , pay the dole to go to free classes, no turn up at classes , no dole. Just a thought ! otherwise they will end up like me going to classes at 67 years old and not a job in sight.
Cowan's new brainwave, retire at 68 should go down like a lead balloon. thousands of old people on the dole with no jobs and no benifits untill they retire at 68. Just another means of screwing the working class and clawing money back to pay for Fianna Fail Failures.
Joe

Hiya Joe,

I went to college as a mature student 8 or 9 years ago. I found it much easier to learn, or maybe it was because I was so enthusiastic.... but as I'd be coming home in the evenings I'd see young people hanging around and wish they could see what's ahead of them, and what they're missing out on.

Stick up any computer related questions you need an answer to here and I bet someone will have a good answer.

Hi JOE, I am 68, and would love to know about digital camera and downloading photos, Maybe somewhere on the north side of Dublin, If anyone knows , I would be greatful,It is sad to see young people unemployed and unable to take courses because of the cost, This Goverment will never see sense enough to give free classes, Mores the pity.

fas run courses and once you turn up you still get paid what you where getting on the social. the only problem is there are not enough places. they could also do courses in the evening and their social is not affected.
