British Swimmer Adam Peaty Is Overwhelmed After Setting a World Record in His First-Ever Olympic Swim (and It's Not Even the Finals!)

I google because I'm not young enough to know everything.

Loving the BBC Red Button Service, it has given me the opportunity to watch sports I wouldn't normally get to see on the main BBC or RTE channels. The Archery, Judo, Fencing and Shooting were great to watch over the weekend.

Good to see a great spread of medals already, Vietnam got its first ever Gold Medal as did Kosovo.

Paddy Barnes just lost on a split decision. From what the commentators said he looked exhausted like it was his 5th fight this week. Are the chickens coming home to roost with the loss of Billy Walsh?

The Olympics are so boring..... so so boring .. that the mainstream media can only drum up interest by focusing on who has been caught taking drugs.

Without drugs ..... the Olympics could never reach the front page.

I'm with you Twobob. It's totally commercialised and politicized. I just can't be bothered. I think it's outrageous the amount of money that can be found for this two week spectacle by a near bankrupt country with rampant poverty, that could be far better spent improving people's lives, but that would make sense.

Minister of Sport / Tourism / Transport [ Shane Ross ] the same fella who dosen't think it proper to intervene in the possible upcoming bus strike , but for some reason or other he thinks it correct to travel out to Rio to investigate the " ticket touting scam " ..........oh , and also to try and give the Irish contenders a morale lift , as no medals seem to be forthcoming .

The cost of letting Billy Walsh go is starting to show with the boxers ...apart from the fighters losing ....he was also the go to man regarding what they were allowed drink and eat.....what was allowed and what was banned...it's seems to be falling apart without him
