Wow that paper is a blast from the past.Paper of choice in our house. At one point it was free to read portions of it online, but, then it became subscription only.

It seems like a lot of money for 1946, it’s no wonder it didn’t happen

A variety show advertised in the Herald February 1968. Note the casual use of the racist term for one of the acts. Dana from Derry must have been only 15 then !
Also a comedian called Dermot Morgan. IMG_1339.jpg

I see Maeve Mulvaneys name on the bill for Liberty hall I was a big fan of hers then, she was living with Butch Moore in the states for years until she had a tragic accident when she fell down the stairs where she lived

I never heard of her Rasher, before my time. My older sister was a big fan of the Capitol Showband and she used to get a lift home off Butch after the show. He lived in East Finglas and we lived in the west. Purely platonic She was killed in a traffic accident in 1965 , only 21. He emigrated some time after that. He did a tour in Ireland in the 80s, I brought my mother to see him in
the Braemor Rooms and after the show was over she went up the stage and got his attention, asked him if he remembered Patty. The stage was elevated about 3 ft and when he realised who she was he lifted her up and hugged her. Apologised for not coming to see her after Patty was killed. He was a lovely bloke and it meant a lot to me Ma.
