One side of me says it crazy to be paying to have a child go through the Sacraments .

The other side says the lay out of money spent on fake tan / horse n carriage / after party's .... [not all] , but the pressure people put on themselves and their child is nothing short of madness .

Seen a child few years back who was making his communion walking out of their house , red carpet from the front door to the carriage outside ..... all they were short of doing was holding a gun to his back ...... poor fecker .

I often thought that too TB, I worked with people who had huge parties and kids dressed like little brides for the communion, this was to impress the neighbours. Most of people I am talking about didn't go to mass and would only be found inside a church for christening, weddings or funerals. The money wasted on the spectacle is shameful when you think that there are people who are starving.

Listening to a mother on RTE radio during the week, saying that she had to fill in an online form to enrol her daughter into confirmation out of school hours & a DONATION of 100 euro was required. She was not prepared to pay that much, but, unless she ticked that box, she could not proceed/ She said that she was happy to give a donation, but, she felt that she had a gun to her head re 100E

She explained that when she researched the amount of children enrolling this year in her county, their were in excess of 18000. That's a mighty lot of yo yo's
