They just cant prove anything against him, maybe it suited them not to. Anonymous British army intelligence officers hiding behind screens refusing to show themselves and spinning yarns. How would anyone who has any idea of what went on in Ireland both north and south believe a word out of their mouths.

Will anybody really ever know what went on behind closed doors...All of what is known about history changes over time.
I went to Court as a witness in Dublin .
I was standing at the Corner of Golden Lane and piles buildings when a car passed and did not slow down of stop at bride street junction...
It crashed into a car travelling along Bride street...
Anyway the point is, in the Court room the had a chalk drawing of the junction an, i have no idea what the result was between me and the junction the there is a wall along the left that was slightly concave allowing me to get a clear view of the accident....On the chalk drawing that wall was Concave which would have obscured my view..
I pointed that out and it was ignored by the defence lawyer... I just said my bit and went home....

A bit about the Birmingham six......The Home secretary spoke about it over twenty years later.....

You could say that he panicked as he was very concerned about a backlash against the Irish in the UK, especially Birmingham with its large Irish population...
He admitted that he put enormous pressure on the West Midlands Police to find the Bombers and find them quick...Yes he said it was the wrong thing to do and he should not have done it...In hindsight of course....
But history is full of wrong decisions that seemed right at the time...

Quoting from memory so might be wrong.
At the time the lord of the rolls, Denning I think, said it was better that innocent people be jailed than the British justice system seem to be flawed.

Since when have Courts of law been interested in Justice,,,,They are a clique and a very dishonest one at that...

Anybody that sanctions people being taken from their beds and shot without trial,,,,,Has absolutely no sense of Justice,,,,I aim that comment at anywhere it has happened...

There are always going to be 2 sides that debate & even now, generations later, never the twain shall meet.
Both my paternal & Maternal families have always been anti treaty.

I am Anti-Treaty for the simple reason ......The 1918 General election showed clearly in favour of a 32 County Ireland,,,,,

The Brits didn't care. They just threatened martial law.

Then if Collins had stood his men down,,,,Martial Law was not needed. and neither could the Brits afford it, but I don't think Collins knew that.....
