My wife worked in the barbers across in Wynnfield Road in the early 80s and the barbers in Dorans would bad mouth her " sure a woman cant cut mens hair "

Wynnfield Road ...Theirs a blast from the past....funnily enough that was always a very dead road....never anything on it ....not even passing traffic ....and i very seldom used it as a shortcut going home always walked up by the Garda station and around on to Charleville Road......maybe it picked up during the 80's.....tell her not to mind the Doran's they were afraid of Women

He was around and I passed him going here and there, but didn't 'know' him as such...loved his books The Hill and Goodbye to the Hill, still have copies.

The Hill Pub beside Mount Pleasant , called after his book as far as I remember ,is gone too.
