But someone dying now may have been ill for several weeks, so I don't think one or two more deaths per day indicates a rise in infections. The death rate is bound to fluctuate for a while. That's my understanding anyway.

I know what you mean about the death rate Katie, but the number of people reported infected yesterday was 64 and today it is 76. Maybe it is another case of hospitals not reporting their number daily.

i read an article a few days ago commenting on the 'spanish' flu of 1918, making the point that the first wave that killed millions was only 25% of the second wave that came through....maybe today we are better prepared if this is the first wave but its a sobering [no pun] thought.

Still no cause for celebration. I got an injection for pneumonia years ago. I was told it would last for life, Well today my doctor gave me another one he said its better to be safe then sorry we believe now they only last five years

I got one years ago too Joan and like you I was told I would not need it again. I had pneumonia before and nearly died I don't know that I could survive another one.

I posted before that i knew people that had both the flu & pneumonia jab and still got a fierce dose which they almost all believe was the corona virus. Luckily they all survived.

First good news I hope it continues , One grand son has to do his Junior cert tomorrow on line so he can be assessed. Might do the same for the Leaving, Lots of Students might work from home in the future if they live far from the college, that will save money on Renting for their family

Thats possible, myself and a neighbour a Polish lad collected some elderly people after their stay in hospital with these symptoms. Some had a bad dose but as you say maybe the vaccinations did help somewhat.
