thanks boxman. looks like a good site. went to halifax, nova scotia 2 yrs. ago
for a holiday. there is a place called pier 21 in the halifax harbour dedicated
to the immigrants from many countries who landed there. the irish have a
strong connection with the place. the walls and floor space are filled with
photos and momentos of the struggles those first immigrants met in canada.
is is sad to think of the ones who died enroute and their suitcases and belongings are part of the museum. pier 21 is designed in the shape of a ship.
there is a video shown which records the name of every ship that arrived
there and the ones that went down at sea.
