Richard (Dick) McKee aged 17. Dick was the man who selected potential squad members for Michael Collins from the Dublin Units. Arrested in a raid along with Clancy and Clune....he was tortured and beaten so badly he was unrecognizable.
McKee and and Clancy were betrayed to the British authorities by an ex-British Army serviceman. They were captured in the house of Sean Fitzpatrick on Gloucester Street, now Sean McDermott street, in Dublin's north inner city and removed to Dublin Castle.
The famous IRA unit known as 'The Squad', led by Bill Stapleton subsequently executed the spy in at Hynes's Pub on the corner of Lower Gloucester Street and Railway Street.
McKee, Clancy and another Volunteer - Conor Clune, were tortured under interrogation by British secret service in the guardroom and subsequently murdered on Sunday evening, 21 November 1920.
McKee was bayoneted in the liver, suffered broken ribs, abrasions to the face and received many bullet wounds.
Believed to be in retaliation for Bloody Sunday.
