      Omagh Co Tyrone. N.Ireland,

from the Irish: Omaigh, meaning "the virgin plain" is the county town of Tyrone. It is situated where the rivers Drumragh and Camowen meet to form the Strule. A Franciscan friary was built on the site of the town in about 792AD. Omagh was founded as a town in 1610 and it served as a refuge for fugitives from the east of Tyrone during the 1641 Rebellion. In 1689,the same year as the Battle of the Boyne,James II arrived at Omagh en route to Derry. Supporters of William III ,Prince of Orange burned the town.

On the 15 August 1998 Twenty Nine people were killed by a large car bomb and the attack was described as N.Ireland's worst single terrorist atrocity

        • Ogmore-by-Sea.

In Welsh: Aberowr meaning mouth of the River Ogmore is a seaside village in the Vale of Glamorgan,Wales. The rocky shoreline is well known as a climbing location.Just like its counterparts in Cornwall,Ireland and Brittany, the west facing beach and coast was notorious as a graveyard for ships during strong on-shore winds(ie.south-westerly winds from the Atlantic). Many ships were destroyed on Tusker Rock,a brutal reef slightly out to sea. Also prevalent at Ogmore was organised shipwrecking; similer to tales in Cornwall where lanterns would be tied to a pole at night on the clifftop and passing ships would mistake the flicking light as a lighthouse and be lured to destruction.

            • Oldcastle,Co Meath.
(Irish: An Seanchaislean) is a town in Co Meath. It is located in the north-west on the County near the border with Cavan.

In recent years the town has grown mainly due to an influx of workers from Eastern Europe to work in the several industries, furniture, bedding and victualling located in the area.

The area was the birthplace of Saint Oliver Plunket, the last Irish Catholic martyr to die in England. Parts of the Plunket estate was given to the Naper family following the Cromwellian wars. St Oliver Plunket, a 17th century Archbishop of Armagh was hung, drawn and quartered in Tyburn.London in 1681 on false charges.

The village is located on the east bank of the River Otter and is about a mile inland of Ladram Bay, on the Jurassic Coast. It was first settled by the Saxons and was by 1000 AD the centre of one of the major rural communities in Devon.
The village includes attractive cob and thatched cottages and is the location of Otterton Mill craft centre. There is a nice restaurant and the fresh bread is still made at the mill.
