excuse me for butting in, I am a newcomer to the forum. in 1945 I was born in Thomas st. and for the first 8yrs of my life I spent playing all around the liberties. from the age of 4 till 8 I attended st catherines school in meath st and at lunch time I would run across the road to get my free bowl of stew. this establishment was known as the little flower, while there I would sit around the same table as the well known caractures like, bang-bang, jonny40 coats, mary ellen who did sell her fish from an old pram with a bakery tray on her pram displaying her goods she would always be seen at the corner of meath st and Thomas st. on a hot sunny day we would go to her for a piece of ice, just the taught of it now, I can almost smell and taste the fish. I miss the sound of johns lane church bells, and powers disterely and of course okeeffes the tanners up catherines lane and the best smell of all the Guinness brewery. if I could have one wish, I would wish to be that little snotty nose kid again. regards dunwack.
